A Houston attorney is facing a murder charge after police say he admitted to fatally shooting his roommate during a late-night altercation. According to the Houston Police Department, Michael Stuart Driver, 46, has been arrested and charged with murder in connection with the death of Jesse Reyes, 48. The shooting occurred at approximately 11:55 p.m. on June 27 at a residence in the 1600 block of Vassar Street. Investigators say HPD officers responding to the scene were flagged down by a man who identified himself as the shooter. Authorities allege Driver told officers he had been involved in a physical confrontation with Reyes before producing a firearm and firing, striking the victim. Houston Fire Department paramedics responded but pronounced Reyes dead at the scene. Police later confirmed that Reyes was Driver's roommate and that both men lived at the residence where the shooting occurred. Following an investigation by HPD Homicide detectives, Driver was taken into custody and formally charged with murder. He is currently being held in the Harris County Jail as the case moves through the 232nd Criminal District Court. The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information related to this case is encouraged to contact the Houston Police Department Homicide Division at 713-308-3600. As with all criminal cases, the charge is an allegation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court. #TheSouthSideSignal #HoustonNews #BreakingNews #HPD #HarrisCounty #CrimeNews #HoustonAttorney |
