Mimi Wright Is Building More Than Brands — She’s Building Launches |

For Mimi Wright, branding is not supposed to be decoration. It is supposed to make people look like the work they have already put in. That idea became the foundation for First Drop, a business-launch platform powered by I’ll Print 4U! and designed for entrepreneurs, athletes, creators and organizations that have already earned credibility but may not yet have the professional brand presence to match it. Now, through a new partnership with BottleConnect™, Wright is adding something else to that equation: a tangible, retail-ready product platform that can carry a participant’s name, image or business into the marketplace. For Wright, the combination is intentional.
The SouthSide Signal spoke with Wright about First Drop, why she created it, why BottleConnect made sense as a partner and what she hopes the collaboration can accomplish. THE INTERVIEWThe SouthSide Signal: What is First Drop, in your own words?Mimi Wright: First Drop is a business launch platform, powered by I’ll Print 4U! It’s built for entrepreneurs, athletes, creators, and organizations who are ready to stop looking like a side project and start looking like a real brand — professional apparel, signage, a brand story video, a marketing strategy, and print materials, all built around who they already are. BottleConnect is one piece of that — a powerful one — but First Drop itself is bigger than any single product. What made you create First Drop?I kept meeting talented, hardworking people — athletes, small business owners and creatives — who had the reputation and the results, but nothing that looked like it. They’d walk into a room with real credibility and no professional identity to back it up. First Drop exists to close that gap in one move instead of ten. What problem did you see in traditional branding?Branding has historically been slow, expensive and fragmented. You hire different people for your logo, apparel, signage, video and strategy, and the process can take months. I saw an opportunity to package all of that into one launch, at one price, on one timeline — so someone could go from: “I have a name” to “I have a brand.” And do it in three to four weeks. Why BottleConnect?BottleConnect had already solved the hard part — a real, retail-ready product with Smart QR technology, professional fulfillment and a built-in royalty model that pays the participant ongoing income, not just a one-time payout. That’s rare. It gave First Drop a tangible, physical product with a revenue stream already engineered into it, which is exactly the kind of partner I wanted standing behind our launches. What does First Drop bring to the BottleConnect Signature Series?Presentation and infrastructure. A Signature Series bottle is powerful on its own, but First Drop surrounds it with the professional branding — apparel, signage, a brand story, a marketing strategy — that turns a product into a presence. We make sure that when someone launches, everything around that bottle looks as strong as the bottle itself. What do you see as BottleConnect’s biggest strength?Their product and their platform. The Smart QR technology, fulfillment system and royalty structure they’ve built are genuinely their edge. That’s not something I could replicate, and I don’t need to. It’s a great division of strength: They built the engine. We build the identity around it. Who is First Drop designed for?People who’ve already put in the work and earned real credibility. Established business owners whose branding hasn’t caught up to what they’ve built. Student athletes stepping into NIL for the first time. Creators and organizations that are ready to formalize their identity. The common thread isn’t age or industry. It’s that they’re serious, and they’re ready. What should somebody walk away with beyond a bottle?A real brand foundation. A professional identity they can build on for years, not just a product for one season. Apparel. Signage. A brand story on video. A strategy behind it. And the confidence that comes from finally looking like who they already are. OWNERSHIP IS THE POINTFor Wright, one word sits at the center of the First Drop concept: Ownership. How important is ownership to you? It’s the whole point. First Drop isn’t about renting someone a logo package. It’s about giving them something that’s theirs — their name, their image, their business, permanently connected to a product and a brand that keeps working for them. Ownership is the difference between a launch and a legacy. And that’s what I built First Drop to protect. THE GOAL: PROVE THE MODELThe initial First Drop × BottleConnect partnership is expected to run through March 2027, giving both companies an opportunity to build, measure and evaluate the model through actual launches. Wright says the objective is not simply volume. What do you want to accomplish during this first phase?Build a track record of real launches — a steady, selective pipeline rather than volume for its own sake. And prove the model works so cleanly that it becomes the standard for how athletes and entrepreneurs launch their brand. By March 2027, I want a portfolio of successful Signature Series launches and a partnership with BottleConnect that’s clearly ready to grow into its next phase. What would make you say, “This partnership worked”?The people we launched are still using what we built. Still wearing it. Still selling. Still earning. If participants come back for their next product, if BottleConnect and I’ll Print 4U! are getting referred by name, and if we can point to real income participants earned through their royalty — that’s success. Not just bottles shipped, but brands sustained. MORE THAN PRINTINGWright says the evolution into First Drop is consistent with what I’ll Print 4U! has always represented.
First Drop expands that mission into a broader launch platform. BottleConnect adds the product infrastructure. The goal is to create something neither side needs to pretend is the other. First Drop remains First Drop. BottleConnect remains BottleConnect. And where they meet is the opportunity to help someone transform a name, image, business or reputation into a brand with something tangible behind it. Wright summed it up simply:

Would be nice to see a launch event for local brands using this.
Really like the idea of something that keeps working after launch. Most stuff I’ve done was just for one event.
Does anyone know how they handle art and logos if you’re not a designer?
I went to high school with Mimi! She’s always been about helping people shine.
The royalty model is the real winner. Most branding just eats up cash.
What’s the cost for apparel and signage alone? Might just need that for now.
All-in-one packaging for branding is definitely overdue. Good on Mimi for noticing.
I wish this was around when I tried to start my brand in 2015. Would’ve saved me months.
Do you have to be established? What if your brand is just getting started?
Could use this for our nonprofit. Anyone know if they work with non-business orgs?
I see a lot of people jumping on this, but hope it’s not just another print service. Want to see results!
Who comes up with these names? First Drop + BottleConnect sound good together.
“Ownership is the difference between a launch and a legacy”, that hits.
Glad to finally see a brand platform for all types of businesses, not just tech.
NIL deals for student athletes just got easier, huh? Nice timing.
Would love to see some samples of what First Drop has done already.
I think it’s smart to focus on people who already did the work. Level up time.
3-4 weeks from idea to brand actually sounds too fast. That’s wild.
Is this local? Would love to get help for my food truck.
I hope the pricing isn’t just for big players. Smaller creators need this too.
BottleConnect having built-in royalties is what I wish existed when I started. Respect.
Glad someone is making branding easier. It’s been a nightmare for my shop.
Seems like a great fit for my senior athletes. Would be cool to see them start something early.
I’ve used I’ll Print 4U before for shirts. Excited to see it go bigger!
This actually makes sense. I know too many folks with big ideas and nothing to show for it.
