FROM HYDRATION TO MEDIAHow Absolutely Amazing Media Was Born |
THE SOUTHSIDE SIGNAL BREAKING EXCLUSIVE |

HOUSTON, TEXAS — What started as a bottled water company has evolved into something much larger. LaMont “DJ LG” aka "The Water King" Gilbert, founder of Absolutely Amazing Alkaline H2O, has spent years building brands, developing products, marketing independently, creating partnerships, and trying to get his products in front of more customers. But somewhere along that journey, the mission changed. The company stopped simply looking for exposure. It started building its own. Today, that vision is becoming Absolutely Amazing Media — an independent media ecosystem connecting radio, television, publishing, marketing, business technology, entertainment, and product promotion under one growing umbrella. And the reason it exists is deeply connected to the road that came before it. THE RETAIL LANDSCAPE CHANGEDFor years, independent mom-and-pop stores played an important role in the growth of Absolutely Amazing Alkaline H2O. Those relationships gave the company opportunities to place products directly in front of customers and build awareness one store at a time. But over time, Gilbert began noticing a change. The retail structure was shifting. For a small independent brand, gaining placement, keeping placement, maintaining visibility, and depending on other businesses to consistently market the product became increasingly difficult. Eventually, Gilbert reached a point where the company had simply had enough. Instead of continuously asking other businesses for shelf space, exposure, promotion, distribution, and access to customers, Gilbert decided to change the model. The philosophy became simple: “We decided to become what we had been looking for from everybody else.” That decision would ultimately become one of the foundations of Absolutely Amazing Media. BUILD THE PLATFORM INSTEADThe idea was no longer just to put a bottle on someone else's shelf. The idea was to create the shelf. Create the audience. Create the programming. Create the marketing. Create the distribution. Create the platform. Rather than depending entirely on someone else's customer traffic, Gilbert began building direct pathways to consumers through websites, social media, digital commerce, QR technology, television, radio, publishing, and branded media. What began as a response to changes in retail slowly turned into a larger business strategy. If the company needed media exposure, it could create media. If it needed an audience, it could build an audience. If it needed distribution, it could create more direct forms of distribution. If it needed a story told, it could publish the story itself. And if other independent businesses faced the same problem, perhaps the infrastructure could eventually help them too. That is where the larger vision began to take shape. THE MOBILE COMMAND CENTERMuch of that work is being coordinated from a space Gilbert created himself. But calling it simply a garage would miss the point entirely. Gilbert transformed the space into what he describes as a mobile hydration station, mobile radio station, and marketing satellite office. It operates as a multipurpose business command center. Part hydration distribution point. Part broadcasting studio. Part content lab. Part marketing office. Part digital operations center. From that self-created satellite office, Gilbert manages product promotion, radio programming, digital marketing, content production, business development, brand strategy, customer engagement, and media operations. It represents the philosophy behind the entire company: You do not always need traditional infrastructure to build something meaningful. Sometimes you create the infrastructure yourself. THEN CAME DINNERVIEWS RADIOOne of the biggest developments was the launch of DINNERVIEWS RADIO. The station was built as a 24-hour digital radio platform, but it quickly began developing an identity beyond traditional internet radio. The programming began blending generations and genres. Classic R&B. Hip-hop. Soul. Old-school records. Current music. DJ mixes. Exclusive blends. Independent material. And programming designed to sound different from what listeners could easily hear elsewhere. The concept was straightforward: You may know the song. But you may have never heard it like this. That philosophy quickly became part of the sound of DINNERVIEWS RADIO. THEN THE DJs STARTED COMINGAs the platform developed, something unexpected began happening. DJs and entertainers started taking the station seriously. Some began supplying programming. Others provided exclusive sets. Some supplied unreleased material. Relationships began forming across multiple cities. The growing lineup included personalities such as DJ AJ Scratch, DJ Hill, Bee Black Beats, Danny D, DJ Ty Boogie, and others joining what Gilbert calls “The Family.” Gilbert also stepped behind the microphone himself with The DJ LG Show featuring The Family. Suddenly, this was no longer simply a playlist running around the clock. It was becoming programming. Personalities. Shows. Brands. Exclusive content. Interviews. Independent music. And original entertainment. EXCLUSIVE MUSIC CHANGED EVERYTHINGAnother turning point came when DJs and artists began supplying Gilbert with exclusive and unreleased material. That changed the conversation. When independent talent begins trusting a platform with music that cannot simply be heard everywhere else, the platform starts moving beyond basic radio. It begins functioning as a form of distribution. Exposure. Discovery. Promotion. And artist development. That opened the door to a much bigger question: What if Absolutely Amazing Media could help independent talent not only get played, but also get interviewed, written about, promoted, distributed, showcased on video, introduced to new audiences, and integrated into a larger media system? At that point, the vision began looking less like a radio station and more like an independent media and entertainment network. RADIO WAS ONLY ONE PIECEDINNERVIEWS RADIO was never intended to stand alone. Another major piece was already developing through Absolutely Amazing TV. That opened the door to something larger: Radio and television under the same media umbrella. Instead of building disconnected brands, the goal became creating an ecosystem where each platform could strengthen the others. A DJ featured on the radio could be interviewed through the publication. An artist could appear on television. A business could be promoted using BottleConnect™. A story could be published by The SouthSide Signal. A product could be promoted across radio, television, websites, social platforms, and direct customer channels. Everything could begin feeding everything else. THE MEDIA ECOSYSTEMToday, the pieces of that system are becoming clearer. DINNERVIEWS RADIOA 24/7 digital radio platform featuring DJs, music, interviews, blends, independent programming, and exclusive content. ABSOLUTELY AMAZING TVA digital television platform designed to bring entertainment directly to consumers. THE SOUTHSIDE SIGNALAn independent publishing platform for interviews, profiles, business stories, entertainment coverage, and community storytelling. BOTTLECONNECT™A QR and NFC-powered marketing system designed to connect physical products and businesses directly to digital content, customer experiences, reviews, promotions, and websites. ABSOLUTELY AMAZING MEDIAThe umbrella bringing those different pieces together. The goal is not simply to own several brands. The goal is to make the brands work together. BOTTLECONNECT CONNECTED THE PHYSICAL AND DIGITAL WORLDSBottleConnect™ added another dimension to the strategy. Gilbert had already learned something important through the bottled water business: A physical product can become a marketing tool. A bottle does not have to simply hold water. With a QR code, it can become a doorway. A doorway to a business. A menu. A video. A promotion. A review page. A radio station. A television platform. A website. A story. Or an entire digital experience. That concept fits naturally inside Absolutely Amazing Media because it connects physical distribution with digital media. The bottle becomes part of the advertising. The advertising becomes part of the media. And the media sends customers back to the business. FROM SELLING PRODUCTS TO OWNING ATTENTIONThat may be the biggest shift in Gilbert's strategy. The original mission centered heavily on selling a product. The newer mission includes something even more valuable: Owning the relationship with the audience. Traditional businesses often spend enormous amounts of time trying to get access to somebody else's audience. Retail stores have customers. Radio stations have listeners. Television networks have viewers. Publications have readers. Social platforms have followers. Gilbert's strategy increasingly focuses on building those audiences internally. Because once a company owns its own audience, every business under the umbrella becomes stronger. Water can be promoted. Coffee can be promoted. BottleConnect™ can be promoted. Independent artists can be promoted. Businesses can be promoted. Events can be promoted. Programming can be promoted. And new products can be introduced without beginning from zero each time. WHY ABSOLUTELY AMAZING MEDIA EXISTSAbsolutely Amazing Media did not begin because Gilbert woke up one morning and decided he wanted to own a media company. It grew out of necessity. It grew out of years of trying to get other businesses to provide the visibility, marketing, distribution, exposure, and customer access his brands needed. Eventually, he stopped asking. He started building. That is what makes the story different. Absolutely Amazing Media was not created simply to enter the entertainment business. It was created because one entrepreneur decided that depending entirely on other people's platforms was no longer enough. The company would create its own. Its own radio. Its own television. Its own publication. Its own marketing technology. Its own customer pathways. Its own media. Its own voice. THE GARAGE BECAME THE SATELLITE OFFICEThere is something fitting about the fact that much of this is being built from Gilbert's self-created satellite operation. The space reflects the company itself. It does multiple jobs. Hydration happens there. Broadcasting happens there. Marketing happens there. Business development happens there. Media production happens there. Planning happens there. It is not designed to imitate a traditional corporate office. It is designed to work. And in an era where technology has removed many of the barriers that once separated independent entrepreneurs from major media companies, that distinction matters. You no longer need a giant broadcast tower to operate radio. You no longer need a traditional cable network to distribute television. You no longer need a printing press to publish stories. And you do not necessarily need a massive corporate headquarters to build a media company. You need infrastructure. Content. Technology. Talent. Distribution. Consistency. And an audience. Gilbert is attempting to build all six. “THE ORCHESTRA LEADER”Gilbert often describes himself as “the orchestra leader.” The phrase fits the role he has gradually assumed. He is not trying to personally become every DJ, every host, every writer, every marketer, or every entertainer. He is assembling the pieces. Connecting people. Creating platforms. Building distribution. Introducing brands. Finding talent. And directing the different components toward one larger vision. Like an orchestra, each individual piece can stand alone. But the real power comes when everything begins working together. THIS IS STILL THE BEGINNINGThe story of Absolutely Amazing Media is not being presented as a finished success story. It is still being built. Programming is expanding. Websites are developing. Talent is joining. Media relationships are forming. Business models are evolving. The technology continues to change. Some ideas will work exactly as planned. Others will change along the way. That is what building something from the ground up looks like. But one thing has already changed permanently. Gilbert is no longer waiting for somebody else to provide the platform. He is building one. And the philosophy behind the company can still be summarized in the same sentence that helped start the entire transition: “We decided to become what we had been looking for from everybody else.”From hydration to broadcasting. From product placement to audience building. From bottles to media. From asking for exposure to creating it. That is the story behind Absolutely Amazing Media. And according to Gilbert, the story is only getting started. Gilbert said they got tired of asking for exposure. I can respect trying to make your own way.
DJ Ty Boogie caught my eye in that lineup. Now I'm curious what his set sounds like.
The water bottle as an ad is an interesting idea. I still want to know if the water tastes good.
I like that he wants to tell Southside stories. There are plenty of folks around here worth hearing from.
The hard part will be keeping fresh shows on DINNERVIEWS. A full day of radio needs plenty of material.
Classic R&B and newer hip-hop together sounds like my kind of station. I'll have to give it a listen.
I don't usually scan codes on drinks. Maybe the music would give me a reason to try this one.
Seeing a Houston business find its own way is encouraging. I hope Gilbert keeps the local stores involved.
I hope the unreleased tracks get proper credit when they play. That matters to smaller artists.
Building a station from a garage is pretty cool. My brother used to record his shows in a spare bedroom.
I'd like to know what Absolutely Amazing TV actually shows. The radio part is easier for me to picture.
I like the idea of independent artists getting interviews. Getting a song played once isn't much help by itself.
Gilbert calling himself the orchestra leader sounds about right. He's got a lot of pieces to keep together.
The bottle leading to a menu makes sense for restaurants. I wonder if any local ones use it yet.
I want to hear what DJ AJ Scratch puts on the station. A good DJ makes all the difference.
My uncle ran a corner store for years. Those little stores really can give a new product its start.
Radio, TV and water is a lot at once. I'd rather see one part really take off first.
The SouthSide Signal could be good for neighborhood stories. I hope it covers people outside his own businesses.
I get why he got tired of chasing shelf space. Small brands have a hard time staying visible.
Putting a QR code on the bottle is clever. I'd probably scan it once just to see.
I'd listen to the old school mixes. Hope DINNERVIEWS plays some Houston artists too.
The garage setup made me smile. You work with the space you have.
A radio station running all day sounds like a lot to manage. I wonder how many people help him.
I remember seeing his water in a small store. I had no idea he was doing radio too.
I like that Gilbert started with water and kept building. That takes some nerve.
